Still, despite Google’s truthful admissions, Atlantis hunters from around the globe threw up their hands and rejoiced that someone had finally proven their lives were not wasted on chasing a place from fiction.

After all, the esteemed Plato, who wrote about Atlantis as a historical account handed down to him by another ancient culture, only wrote supposed truths about science, mathematics, and philosophy. Plato was never known to be a lover of fiction; however, it does need to be stated that the scholar did not see Atlantis for himself, only documented it from a verbal telling of history.

Treasure hunters will no longer be able to find the questionable grid on the sea floor because it was never there to begin with. The sudden disappearance of the image will no doubt spark a slew of conspiracy theories, because, as we all know, the government wants Atlantis for itself.
